All of my cats smell like Hypnose perfume by Lancome 'cause they all sleep in mom's bed.

Nice, mom.

Animation Crit [13 May 2008|02:46pm]

leadfill
[ mood | nervous ]

My animation critique was supposed to be at 215 so I got here at 215 so that I didn't have to sit around and wait. I'm much less confident with my animation work this semester than I was with my film work so I wanted to just come in, get it done, and leave.

Unfortunately, they're over a half hour behind so I've been sitting here almost 35 minutes. It doesn't help my nerves that I'm completely starving also.

Ugh. Let's goooooooooooo

:edit: well, that was pretty painless. Animation professors are so much more laid back than film professors.

They talked me into submitting my cutout animation to the Ottawa Animation Festival, which is one, if not THE biggest animation festivals in the world. So I put my deposit in for that today and I have to come up with the rest of the money (traveling costs, lodging, etc) soon. If I had known I'd be sending this piece out, I would have made it longer.

Friday and Raining [09 May 2008|04:59pm]

[ mood | grumpy ]

I'm watching America's Next Top Model, and it's cracking me up. No, really - this show is funny sometimes. And Tyra is out of her mind. "Show me passion! No... this is passion!" *Tyra and Janice start making out*

I had an interview for a position at Johnson & Johnson this morning. The interview was with a recruiter so I still have to have an interview with J&J. Apparently the job requires a lot of knowledge of Excel '07 so I'm gonna do whatever I can before next week to have a better understanding of it. I know all of the basics and I can do a lot, but, I'm definitely not proficient enough at the moment. That aside, the interview went well and I hope that I can get this job. I need dough. Hooters probably won't cut it for the summer. AND, I can still work at Hooties. Just... on the weekends or something.

Other than the interview, today's been lame. I wore the same outfit I wore for trial day 1, and naturally, it rained the day I first wore it, and it rained today (poured, in fact). The road was WILD. I took 287 up to Wayne, NJ, and I could barely see 10 feet in front of me the entire trip. I thought I was gonna die. Also, I'm just in kind of a crappy mood. I'm not gonna say I'm PMSing cause someone will definitely call me out for having PMS every weekend, but it could be something like that. I'm consuming mass quantities of sweets and compulsively removing people from my Facebook friends list that I don't like anymore (or, in a fit of PMS, have decided shouldn't be able to see my profile anymore - BOOHOO, they say). I've actually been a little more aware of my privacy lately and that's part of why I've been deleting people. I don't need to give everyone access to my shit.

I'm finally done with school on Tuesday. The summer should be smooth sailing but who knows. I finally have an appointment for my face on the 21st so hopefully my acne will be long gone within a month of that or so. Hopefully! I'm tired of my face looking like poo.

My 21st birthday is at the end of the month, and I'll be moving upstairs with Leann and Melanie, which I'm very excited about. I think we're gonna have a fun year together :) Or more! We'll see.

And... scene.

It's nice to actually be able to wake up naturally and have nothing to do. :)

It's a shame it's raining out.

Tonite I'm going to see El-P, Dizzee Rascal, and Busdriver at the Unitarian. I'm fuckin stoked.

More annoyance [08 May 2008|02:13pm]

[ mood | annoyed ]

Ok, so another thing that I've experienced twice in the past 3 days that bothers me so much is people who blatantly litter, especially if they're standing within feet of a trash can.

On Tuesday, I was walking home from my film crit and there was some girl in her late teens/early 20s eating a snow cone or something out of one of those paper cones. She was standing at the bus stop literally 2 feet away from the trash can. As her bus pulled up, she finished her snow cone, crumpled up the paper cone, and threw it on the ground. As I walked by, I stepped in front of her, picked the cone up off of the ground, and threw it into the trash can. Then the fucking bitch looked at me, wiped her hands with a napkin, and threw the napkin on the ground!

I found myself saying aloud, 'are you serious?' as she turned and got onto the bus.

It's one thing to be a lazy piece of shit who refuses to put trash into a trash can that you're standing right next to. It's another thing to be such a rude and worthless degenerate that when someone is picking up your filth and putting it where it goes, you'd do something else just to spite that person. I was enraged.

Then today, I was walking to my history final and some dude finished his coffee that was in a styrofoam cup and threw the cup onto the ground and hightailed it out of there. I again picked it up off of the ground. Granted, he wasn't physically standing near a trash can, but seriously - we're in a major metropolitan area where there's a trash can at every street corner.

Now, I don't go around picking up every piece of trash I see. I know a lot of trash in the street could potentially be blow-off from trash cans or sometimes you just accidentally let something go. We're only human. But when I see someone deliberately put trash onto the ground, it makes me so angry. I pick it up in the hopes that they see me and feel like a dick for littering.

That's something that really bugs me about smokers. I think it's disgusting that smokers feel entitled to throwing cigarette butts wherever they damn well please. Not only is it still littering, but the cotton/paper combo doesn't biodegrade easily so your filthy cigarette butts will be all over the place for a long time. This is why I wish smoking were illegal more so than for health reasons. Imagine a smoker saving every cigarette butt he or she accumulates over a year and then dumping them all into the street at once. It'd be a massive, unsightly pile. It doesn't soften the act of littering when you spread it out over time.

I'm a firm believer of 'every little bit counts' when it comes to a lot of things. Like littering. If people would take the time to not litter, eventually there wouldn't be any litter. Also for the past few months, I've been eating vegetarian (well, pescetarian) during the weekdays and only eating meat on weekends. A lot of people think that's a hypocritical way to do things, but the way I look at it, every vegetarian meal I eat is one less meal of meat that I eat. I care about animal rights, but I'm not the kind of person that would go to rallies or firebomb a cattle farm. I also can't see myself swearing off steak permanently. Like I said, I feel like every little bit counts and as long as I'm doing the right thing all of the time and going a step beyond sometimes, things can only get better around me.

Things that are pissing me off: [07 May 2008|10:47pm]

leadfill
[ mood | angry ]

1- I can't find my god damned keys. I used them last night to get into my house so they've got to be somewhere in here, but I haven't seen them all day and it's really pissing me off. There's a key hanger thing by our front door and 99.99999% of the time, I ALWAYS hang them up there. It always seems though that in that random 00.00001% that I don't hang them up, they never end up on the dining room table or on top of my tv or somewhere rational. No, they always get lost for 3 weeks.
:edit: found them - they were under a fuckin hat.

2- Alexis accidentally dumped a whole bottle of water into her purse which also contained my ipod. At first it was saying something like 'ipod does not support firewire connection' or something, but I thought it was promising that it was at least saying something and not just a garbled mess, so I let it sit for a while. It wouldn't turn on after a few hours so I plugged it in and it gave the 'please wait - very low battery' message so i let it sit for a little plugged in and now it keeps flashing the unhappy ipod icon which is never a good sign.
For those of you who know me, I need my ipod. I need to be listening to music all the time. This doesn't bode well.

Trial Over, WildWOOOOOOD! [30 Apr 2008|08:33pm]

stephie
[ mood | cheerful ]

So, today is wonderful.

The mock trial we were doing in my Women's Studies seminar is over! We find out the verdict tonight. I'm not really looking forward to it, honestly. I was in a team of 3, and only two of us did the work, and the other team had 4, and they ALL did work. I'd say that for having only two people, we did a sick job. And our case was awesome, BUT the jury has the last word so I guess we'll find out tonight.

Tomorrow I'm going to Wildwood with United and I'm PUMPED. I love everyone there so much, and I know I'll have a good time. And I need to get away from Rutgers and people who stress me out. Time to de-stress.

Yay Wildwood! Mom and Dad are letting Alex and I take the nice car so I'm excited about that, as well.

Ok, time to leave studyhall. =D
